My name is Hadijja Dudu a student from Victoria University, i was given a great opportunity of  doing my internship at Mandrill Africa Safaris. Taking part in an internship has been the most transformative experience of my life. It was more than just a requirement for my studies it became a turning point that reshaped my attitude, lifestyle and understanding of the professional world. Through hands-on learning and  exposure to real work  environments. I discovered new strengths within myself and developed habits that continue to benefit me everyday.

Before my internship, my understanding of work was mostly theoretical, I relied heavily on classroom lessons and lectures. However, once i entered the workplace, I realized that practical experience brings a different level  of learning. I was taught how to apply theories to real situations, how to manage time effectively with clients. This practical exposure helped bridge the gap between what i had studied and how things actually operate in the professional  world.

One of the biggest ways my internship has transformed me is in terms of personal discipline. I learned how to manage my time a little bit better than usual, wakeup early, plan my day and meet deadlines of assignments that have been assigned to me. These habits have carried over into my personal life, making me more organized and focused. I also became more confident in my abilities. Presenting ideas and solving unexpected challenges gave me a sense of achievement and built my self-esteem.

Creating travel packages was another area that transformed my creativity and  planning skills. I learned how to design customized itineraries according to client’s budgets, preferences and destinations. Through this, I developed a better understanding of how to balance cost, comfort and experience, the key factors that make travel packages appealing and successful. I also discovered the importance of negotiation, coordination with suppliers and paying attention to every small detail.

Overall, my tourism internship at Mandrill Africa Safari has been truly a  transformative  experience. It opened my eyes to how the travel industry operates and helped me discover my passion for creating memorable travel experiences for others. The lessons i learned from air ticketing to client service will continue to guide me in the future as i work towards becoming a professional in the tourism  and travel sector. This experience has not only prepared me for my career but also shaped me into a more disciplined and goal oriented individual.
